2016 Waterford High School Graduation Ceremony Information

What is the graduation schedule?

Graduation Day is May 27, 2016 at 8:00 pm. at the WHS Stadium (or gym if inclement weather).

Why is the District/WHS issuing tickets for graduation?

The home side of Wildcat Stadium can comfortably seat 1400 people: this includes bringing two auxiliary sets of bleachers to the home side.  The maximum occupancy capacity of the gymnasium is also 1400 when additional chairs are added to the gym floor.  Though seating is limited, we attempt to accommodate as many people as possible, the students’ families and guests, as well as district faculty & staff.  Based on the number of graduation seniors, this year each student will be issued 10 tickets for the graduation ceremony, plus 2 additional tickets if a parent attends the senior orientation night on Feb. 25th at 6:00 p.m. in the WHS gym.

How many tickets will my graduating senior receive?

Each graduate will be given 10 tickets.  Every graduate receives 10 tickets, plus an additional 2 tickets if a parent or guardian attends the senior orientation night on Feb. 25th at 6:00 p.m. in the WHS gym.

When and where will the tickets be given out at the high school?

Tickets will be distributed on Friday, May 27, 2016, at graduation practice.  Tickets will only be issued to graduating seniors.  Students will have to sign for receipt of the tickets.

Will a non-graduating senior be allowed to attend the ceremony?

Any non-graduating senior will be permitted to attend but a ticket will be required.

Will staff member, band student, etc. be issued tickets?

Special passes will be issued to staff and students participating in the ceremony.

What happens if I lose my tickets?
Once students sign for the tickets, it is the responsibility of the student to ensure that the tickets are kept in a safe place.  Replacement tickets will not be issued.

Can I purchase or get extra tickets for the ceremony?

The District or WHS will NOT sell tickets.  Each graduate will receive up to 12 tickets.  Students may give away tickets that they do not need, however, neither the school nor the District will oversee this exchange process.  Graduates may distribute their tickets as they wish.

Will young children have to have a ticket to enter?

Children and other students are required to have tickets.  All children must have a ticket; there are no special provisions for babies, infants or toddlers.  All humans are required to have a ticket.

Am I guaranteed entrance to the ceremony with a ticket?

Yes.  With a ticket you may enter the facility at any time during the ceremony.  However, you will not be permitted to exit and re-enter.  Seats are not assigned.  Seats are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

Can I take pictures at graduation?

In the stadium, parents may take pictures from the bleachers or behind the fence.  In the gymnasium parents should take pictures from their seats.  We also request that you do not block the view of other visitors.  A professional photographer will be taking pictures as well.

Is there assigned seating for visitors?

No.  Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Can seats be saved?

Twenty minutes before the ceremony begins, all empty seats will be filled as visitors enter the center.  Thus, if you want to sit with your family or friends, it will be necessary to arrive early.

At what time will the doors be opened for the commencement?

Doors will open one hour prior to the beginning of the ceremony.  There will be one entrance line at the front of the gymnasium.

How will issues be resolved at the door?

Security and school officials will be at the entrance to deal with unexpected issues.  The school officials will make the final determination in how the issue will be resolved.  Only official tickets will be accepted for entry into the WHS Gymnasium.

What items will not be permitted into Wildcat Stadium of the WHS Gymnasium?

To maintain the dignity and decorum of the commencement service for our graduates, no balloons, noisemakers, horns, beach balls or other distractions will be allowed.  Graduates may not wear flowers or other adornments on their cap or gown.

Is there handicapped space available for guests in wheelchairs?

Yes.  Both in the stadium and in the gymnasium handicapped space is available for guests in wheelchairs.
